Turn It Off

I spent a lot of time today wondering what the hell is wrong with the world. I played the blame game on Twitter and Facebook. I felt sick and angry and felt the judginess that I hate so much start to creep in while I couldn’t stop reading post after horrible post about the atrocity that occurred in Orlando last night. I’m angry.

I’m angry and tired of it all. I’m tired of the blaming and the name calling. I’m tired of the finger-pointing with no regard for the truth. I’m tired of opinions being stated as fact and having to, again, watch this country be an example of what not to do.

It’s not all Christians

It’s not all Muslims

It’s not white or black people or Hispanic people or Middle-Eastern men.

It’s not all guns, but the people pointing them.

It’s not all Hoosiers.

It is ALL OF US.

Merriam-Webster and dictionary.com give us a pretty good idea where to start and where to stop in one word. Desensitize.

We are outraged but not shocked anymore. We are desensitized.
Turn the TV and the computer off and go look at that beautiful blue summer sky. Play with your kids, or your dog, or your baby chicks. Talk to your neighbor. THINK FOR YOURSELF!
Rise up, America. You’re smarter than this election, this media exposure and this bickering hatred that you’re being fed.
Turn it off.
